General Dentistry

General Dentistry

We provide a wide range of general dental services ranging from routine preventative care to more comprehensive treatment plans. Prevention and minimal intervention are very important to us at BCD, with your health as our first priority.

Our team is committed to ongoing research and education to provide you with the most up to date information and technologies. Your holistic dentist will encourage you to take responsibility for your own wellbeing and will support you along your path to better dental and overall health.

All BCD staff are friendly, compassionate and trained to a high standard. The team undertakes regular first aid resuscitation training according to ADA guidelines. Our sterilisation procedures are always meticulous and up to date,  and all of our equipment is updated regularly.

If you are anxious about dentistry please discuss this with your dentist as we can take extra care to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. Nitrous oxide (“happy gas”) is available for more anxious patients.   We understand that dental treatment can be a stressful process for many people and we are here to help.

Maintenance Visits

So that a healthy mouth may be maintained we recommend regular “check up and clean” appointments. This is an opportunity for us to check the health of the teeth and the periodontal tissues and discuss any areas of concern or in need of treatment. Early detection of disease can often require minimal intervention.

Of course, prevention is always the best course of treatment. Your dentist will advise you as to what intervals your maintenance visits should be booked. Oral hygiene instruction and scaling of the teeth may be carried out during these visits if required.

Radiographs (X-rays)

X-rays are a valuable aid in the diagnosis of oral disease such as tooth decay, gum disease and infections. It is not always possible to see decay between teeth or infections and bone loss around teeth in a visual exam.

At BCD we are aware of concerns regarding x–ray exposure and they will only be requested where necessary and with precaution. In order to minimise your exposure we also use a lead apron and a reduced radiation digital x-ray system.
