Dr Aushi Patel BDS
Aushi Patel is the director of Bio Compatible Dentistry. She was born in Uganda, and spent much of her childhood growing up in Canada. Her teen years and formative education were in the UK where she was accepted into King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry.
In 1995 she obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of London. Aushi spent much of her early career in the UK working in the hospital system as a senior house officer in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. This is where her passion for surgery was ignited and her knowledge and understanding of dentistry, in relation to medicine, grew. She also spent some time working in private practice in London just before moving to Australia.
She moved down under in 2000 in search of beautiful beaches and sunshine and soon after was introduced to the concept of holistic dentistry after attending a lecture on the subject. This resonated well with her knowledge of medicine and appreciation of natural therapies and their value in dentistry.
Aushi joined Bio Compatible Dentistry in 2003 and in a gradual progression became director in 2007. In this time she has avidly studied nutrition, detoxification and many other concepts relating to holistic healthcare. She is extremely passionate about biological dentistry and works closely with some of the country’s leading holistic practitioners to provide an integrative approach and awareness of the intimate relationship between oral and general health.
She also devotes time keeping herself and the BCD team up to date with the latest research and is currently undergoing training to obtain her accreditation from the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology). She has also recently received accreditation to prescribe Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Aushi is a member of various associations including AIMA, IABDM, IAOMT and the ADA.
When she’s not working she spends her time with her husband and her dogs (Max and Peanut) enjoying this beautiful country she now calls home!
